Instructions for Gastroscopy Examination:

DO NOT eat or drink anything after midnight the night before the procedure!
Make sure someone comes with you to drive you home when you are released. You will be sedated for the procedure and may be drowsy for the rest of the day. It is a good idea to have someone stay with you after leaving the hospital. You must have a driver or some form of transportation to drive you home or your procedure will be cancelled.
Do not take the following medications for 7 days prior to procedure: Aspirin, Motrin, Naprosyn, Plavix, Iron tables, Multi-Vitamin, Vitamin E, Arthritis Medications which include Aleve, Advil, Ibuprofen, Celebrex and any other over the counter arthritis medications or Coumadin. If you take Coumadin or Plavix, please contact our office for instructions.
* You may take Tylenol Arthritis or Tylenol only!
Take all your usual morning medications except diabetic medication with a sip of water.
If you use inhalers, use them the morning of your scope if needed. Bring your inhaler with you.
If you are a smoker please refrain from smoking after midnight the day of your scope.
